Temporary passenger lift for transport of corona test samples at Bracknell Healthspace Hospital

For the Bracknell Healthspace hospital, healthcare manager Royal Berkshire deployed our temporary passenger lift. On the second floor of the hospital, the National Health Service (NHS) is conducting research on corona in a temporary corona lab. The manager was looking for a way to transport new test samples to the lab unhindered. Despite the corona measures and new border checks, RECO Lift Solutions managed to install a temporary passenger lift at the hospital on time.

Shorter FastTrack route for test samples with temporary passenger lift

Via a FastTrack route, the test samples are brought to the laboratory as quickly as possible. By keeping the FastTrack route separate from corridors for patients and staff, work in the hospital is not hindered. To make the route shorter and safer, Royal Berkshire and NHS want a temporary passenger lift at the back of the building. Via the temporary lift, deliveries are taken directly from the car park to the lab. The RECO Plug and Play passenger lift is an excellent solution.

That's why the RECO Plug and Play passenger lift is ideal for care centres:

  • Enough space for wheelchairs and rolling containers;
  • Low noise level of only 45 dB;
  • Easy to keep clean;
  • Operational in all weather conditions;
  • Assembled within one working day;
  • The control system can be connected to local safety systems.

Temporary passenger lift on transport in corona time

For this project, we had to transport our lift from our office in the Netherlands to England. But with the increasing corona infections and measures, it was momentarily unclear how we could transport the lift across the border.

Because the lift is used for research into corona, we were given permission for a team to travel to England. However, it was required that our lift mechanics took part in a PCR test and an antigen test in the Netherlands and the testresults were only valid for 72 hours. This meant that the mechanics had to complete the job within 72 hours. To ensure the client of a quick delivery, two colleagues from RECO Hoist Hire & Sales helped completing the installation on time.

Successful installation of RECO temporary passenger lift

Finally, the temporary passenger lift was installed on time and inspected on site by Bureau Veritas UK. Their inspectors are familiar with our temporary lifts allowing tests and inspections to run smoothly. Our temporary passenger lift will remain in Bracknell for the next 2 years.
